Opening: Marketing Manager

Description:

Our software product company seeks a Marketing Manager for our downtown Portland, Oregon office. Specifically, we're looking for someone to actively position our company as the most successful in our industry while maintaining the values that helped us arrive at the already-successful position we're in today.

During the first year of the job, we expect this Marketing Manager to:
  • become a subject matter expert in our industry as well as our business
  • understand our sophisticated customer base
  • create an overarching integrated marketing strategy that will likely include
    • viral marketing
    • public relations
    • advertising
    • cutting edge marketing techniques with which they have experience
  • disseminate our messaging to our entire staff so that each employee can speak to our vision and each manager can use that directional guidance for tactical decisions
  • advise on tactical best practices for B2B marketing and integrating those practices into procedures
  • be subject to evaluation as to the success of his or her strategic and tactical decisions, based on metrics (including but not limited to quantity of incoming leads)

The following things are requirements of the job (NOT negotiable):
  • 5-7 years of successful B2B marketing experience
  • Minimum 2+ years at a software company in a marketing role of any kind
  • Demonstrable experience of producing results
  • Ability to work more than 40 hours a week (expect 50+ hours a week for the first year)
  • Intermediate computer skills utilizing popular software like Microsoft Office, PDF tools, and similar
  • 2+ years experience with either Salesforce.com, or other modern CRMs
  • 1-2 years of budgeting experience
  • Willing to be 100% hands-on in implementing our vision - there will be some tactical work

Candidates with the experience below will be given extra consideration:
  • Knowledge of the agile software development industry or previously held a job with our competitors
  • Experience working at a company that had an opensource and/or freeware strategy
